Transitional Housing

C.A.R.E. operates a transitional housing facility for single parent with children. Through our housing facility, we strive to transition residents from homelessness to permanent housing, ultimately home ownership, by increasing job skills and family income. Additional services include a summer food service program, bible study, homework center and drug counseling.

Youth Ending Substance & Mentoring

Youth Ending Substance Abuse Program (YES), CARE is a contracted provider of youth substance abuse prevention services through Berks County Council on Chemical Abuse. Through YES, we offer prevention education and coordinate drug free social and recreational opportunities to area youth ages 8 - 17. On average, 50 area youth attend the weekly YES meetings and activities. Every summer, 25 - 50 children attend the YES summer camp.

House of Good Food

Located at 140 West Buttonwood Street, this is more than just a neighborhood restaurant; it's a beacon of hope and inspiration for our youth. By showcasing entrepreneurship, it teaches young people they can positively impact their community. Partnering with the school district and local agencies, including the judicial system, the restaurant provides opportunities for youth and adults to fulfill community service hours and gain job training. Beyond contributing to local sales and property taxes, its revenue supports various CARE programs. Offering Southern Style cuisine with a Caribbean twist, such as Jerk Chicken and Ribs, The House of Good Food also caters and offers takeout for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
